detail.about
The Church of St. Anthony was built in the mid-19th century right on the seashore, in a deep bay called Jaz. Over time, its surroundings changed – the bay was filled in at the beginning of the 20th century, and later urbanization left the church below the level of the surrounding buildings, giving it a unique appearance today. It is a simple single-nave building with a wooden roof and a semicircular apse covered by a semi-dome. The facade features a bell tower in the shape of a belfry, further emphasizing its charm and modest beauty.
